1. Start by describing the problem, not by choosing a paint
A mark on the facade may indicate surface damage, but also a problem that requires checking the whole element. When reporting a sandwich panel repair, you don’t need to identify the technology yourself. Write what you see, where the damage is and when it was noticed. Separate your own observation from any assumption about the cause.
Panel Cure+ is a Panel Montage brand that carries out spot repairs once the case has been screened. Installation experience helps us look at a panel in the context of the envelope, but it does not replace the manufacturer’s documentation or the designer’s assessment. The first contact is to establish what is needed for further assessment. It is not yet a confirmation that the repair is possible, nor of the price or timing.
2. Scratch, coating and deformation are different pieces of information
A scratch describes a mark on the surface; a dent, a change in shape. The two can occur together. In your enquiry, it is worth describing them separately rather than using only the word “damage”. Look out for visible chips and exposed substrate, without scraping off the coating yourself.
The Polish Kingspan instructions distinguish shallow scratches from scratches reaching the steel sheet. They do not provide for identical treatment of every mark. This is an example of why a recommendation for another panel or another type of coating should not be carried over. The choice of method is not determined by the length of the scratch alone or by a phone photo.
Source 23. Look at the area around the damage too
In the material for assessment, show the position relative to the edge, the joint with adjacent panels, flashings and fixings. Balex recommends including joints, fasteners and seals in inspections; problems at these points can be linked to leaks and damp. Simply restoring the colour does not explain their cause.
If a leak has been noticed, add when it occurs and where it is visible from the inside. Do not present a guess as identified damage to the panel joint. Choose a safely accessible spot for the photos. Do not undo fixings, dismantle flashings or go onto the roof just to complete the enquiry. The need for an additional site survey is decided separately.
Source 14. When might a spot repair not be enough?
Extensive damage, torn sheet metal, an exposed core or a problem at a fixing require going beyond an assessment of appearance. It is not possible to set one acceptable dent size for all products. For damage to the facing itself, the Balex instructions point to the need to consider replacing the panel.
This does not mean automatically replacing every element with a visible mark. It means checking what scope is justified. Where there are doubts about load-bearing capacity or the properties of the wall or roof element, input from the manufacturer or designer may be needed. A cosmetic repair is not confirmation that structural, thermal or fire-resistance performance has been restored. Panel Cure+ does not replace such an assessment.
Source 15. Agree the expected result and warranty terms
Provide the manufacturer, model, coating type and colour, if you know them. The RAL number helps organise the data, but it is not a promise of an invisible repair. The GreenCoat instructions indicate that a touch-up coating may age differently from the factory coating, and that a repainted surface may look different.
If the building is under warranty, prepare the document issued for the specific delivery. The Kingspan warranty template contains its own terms and exclusions, including those relating to mechanical damage. This does not determine the terms of another manufacturer or of a specific contract. Before any intervention, the correct procedure and arrangements must be checked. We do not promise that the warranty will be preserved on the basis of a photo alone.
Source 3 Source 4What determines the cost of sandwich panel repair?
A quote requires defining the number and type of damaged areas, the area to be worked on, the condition of the coating and the expected result. The location, height, means of access and whether work can be carried out in an operational building also matter. Two similar scratches may require different organisation of the work.
That is why we do not give a single rate per dent or a price per metre without understanding the scope. Photos and basic data help establish whether a proposal can be prepared or whether additional information or a site survey is needed. We agree the scope and terms before the work is carried out.
6. What should you send to Panel Cure+?
- The site location, contact details and the approximate number of areas.
- A close-up photo and a wider shot showing the position on the panel.
- Approximate dimensions, a description of the symptoms and the date noticed.
- Manufacturer data and the history of previous repairs, if available.
- Information on height and access, without arranging any tests yourself.
If you don’t know something, just say so. After reviewing the material, we will establish the missing information and whether a site survey is needed. The method, achievable result, scope and terms of work are agreed before the work starts. Photos are used for screening; they are not a remote technical acceptance of the building. Start by showing the damage and its surroundings.
